More Than Friend to Esrael

PM Modi In Israel LIVE Updates:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Israel on an important visit. This trip is his second to Tel Aviv since the historic visit in 2017. PM Modi met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during this two-day trip. The visit aims to strengthen trade and defense ties, but it has received criticism back home.

Calling PM Modi "more than a friend", Netanyahu praised the Indian leader and thanked him for being with Israel on the side after the cowardly attack of October 7, 2023. PM Modi was one of the first world leaders to condemn the deadly attacks by Hamas in which almost 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 kidnapped.

The warm welcome highlighted how much closer the relationship between Israel and India has become under PM Modi, whose friendship with Israel has represented a change in the foreign policy of India, which has always been an ally of the Palestinians. It was not until 1992 that India fully recognized Israel, and the visit of PM Modi is intended to improve security, economic, and technological cooperation between the two nations.

“I have never been more moved than by your visit here with us,” Netanyahu said, terming PM Modi “a great friend of Israel, a great champion of the Israel-India alliance and a great leader on the world stage.”
